Scenes not seen everyday

About Me, Articles, General, Work-Boulot August 20th, 2008

This Wednesday(today) was a very tiring and sleepy day since some of my project team members and myself left office at nearly 330am(wednesday) after nearly 19hours in office!

At noon, Bernard and myself went to “prend imper l’air” and “asté salade”at the famous 4-way all stop at the entrance of Champs de Mars

While stepping outside of the De Chazal Du Mée (DCDM) Bulding, we took some mins to stare at the guys who were washing the building windows, while being hung using ropes (Abseiling - Descente en rapel)

DCDM Building

I find this picture of the building simply great !!!

DCDM Building

Well, that’s not all…

Just in front of the Champs de Mars entrance, two Police Traffic Officers had parked their motocycles on DOUBLE YELLOW LINES!

Ya, both of them! On double yellow lines!!!

Mauritius Police

Unfortunately, I didn’t really think to take their pictures, but some mins later, one of them went away, leaving the other one with his salad…

A few mins later, I already made up my mind to write about this and the title of this post was already decided!

Together with Bernard, we walked nearer to the motocycle and took some quicks shots while the officer was looking away…

Mauritius Police

After all, he is a human too and it was lunch time…

But wat would have happenned if he spotted you on double yellow lines during lunch time?

For sure, you would have been awarded a fine despite that the yellow lines are fading away!

Your arguments will definitely fail !

As you can notice above, as from now, I will be putting my watermarks on all pics posted on my blog because of the previous incident where a technician from Radioplus had illegally copied my video from Youtube onto his account and on the official site of Radioplus…

Finally, I compelled the person to remove the video from his account, and he did apologized for this incident

Radioplus copied my youtube video! Illegal!

About Me, Articles, Blogging, General, Web August 16th, 2008

One of my friends just told me that my video, featuring our prime minister, was uploaded on youtube and displayed on the web site of radioplus…

I immediately checked it, and it was true!!!

Someone from Radioplus took the exact copy of my original video, shot with my mobile and with my voice, and dared to upload that onto their account, more exactly on the account of venenmru.

The original video is here and their copied version here

Well, that guy must be simply foolish or an idiot because he has clearly violated the copyright notices on youtube!

Additionally on the site, it clearly states that

Be sure that all components of your video are your original creation—even the audio portion. For example, if you use an audio track of a sound recording owned by a record label without that record label’s permission, your video may be infringing the copyrights of others, and may be subject to removal.

I emphasize on this point, because this video clip includes my voice and that of my family members!

If the copyright owner disagrees with your interpretation of fair use, the copyright owner may chose to resolve the dispute in court. If the court agrees with the copyright owner, then you are infringing the copyrights of the owner and you may be liable for monetary damages.

It doesn’t matter that you are not selling the video for money—it is still copyrighted.

It doesn’t matter whether or not the video contains a copyright notice—it is still copyrighted.

I kindly ask the person in question to delete that video, and i have already notified youtube about this infringement of one of their copyright notices…

I wouldnt have mind if that person asked me the permission to upload this video, and link to the original video, but he has just COPIED it!

Damn You!!!

Trou aux Biches BBQ Party + Rakhi

About Me, Blogging, Fun, General, Leisure, Underground events August 16th, 2008

BBQ Party

Yesterday, we had a Farewell BBQ Party @ Trou aux Biches, organised by Ingrid (Reunionaise) & Floria (Française), who were both working at DCDM Consulting as trainees for the last months. Since they will be flying away, they held this party, supported by the Underground Committee, comme dab koi :P

About 30 DCDMCians managed to be present for this event which ended early in the morning, dont know the exact end time, since I got back home at 2am, tired & sleepy!

Au menu pour la soirée, we had a great BBQ by our chef cuisinier Krishna, a live classical concert by the friends of Olivia & Om(sitting on the floor with his guitar) and a big dance party, with myself on the mix.

Unfortunately, I would be getting the high definition pics later on Monday, so for now, these are the few ones shot with my mobile…

More pics coming later on facebook…

Great time indeed!

Raksha Bandhan

Today, the hindu community will be celebrating the Raksha Bhandhan (aka Rakhi).

Raksha Bandhan (the bond of protection in Hindi) is a Hindu festival, which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters.

Later on today, Varsha, Neha & Deepa will be tying a rakhi, or holy thread and in return, I (The elder brother) will have to offer a gift(or money?) to each of them and vows to look after them.

Thats all for today, catch u later…

lol, its already 1030am & haven’t took my bath yet nor brushed my teeth!!!

Risk your life while stepping onto Pedestrial Crossings

Articles, Blogging, General, News August 12th, 2008

Today, I will be blogging about “La gentillesse des chauffards” near Pedestrian Crossings and the dangerous spot in front of  Champs de Mars…

Did it ever happened to you that no driver stops their vehicle to allow you to cross the road on a pedestrian crossing???

Some of them ignore you even if you have already started to walk on the crossing…

Although it is one of the first things you learn in a driving school, it is very common to see many drivers do not respect the pedestrians, some of them even speed up when seeing people waiting at pedestrian crossings, in fear that they might be late by some seconds…

Its important to add here that, this is a breach to the law and a police officer can fine you if you dont stop at those pedestrian crossings…

LOL! Police officers!

Consider this particular spot in Port Louis, the Square Sir Edouard Nairac, at the entrance of Champ De Mars…

Its known as an “All way stop” (BIG thanks to my colleague Bernard for this word),

An all-way stop is an intersection system used [...], where traffic approaching it from all directions is required to stop before proceeding through the intersection. Such intersections are most often found in the form of a 4-way stop, [...]

A motorist approaching an all-way stop is always required to come to a full stop. After a full-stop has been made, all vehicles present at any point of the intersection have the right-of-way to proceed through the intersection in the order they have reached the intersection; if two or more vehicles arrive at the same time the driver on the left yields to the driver on the righ

For those who regularly go to bet for races at Champs De Mars, they might tell you how dangerous this particular spot can be… especially with the presence of a pre-primary school + another primary school, just at 10metres from this point…

Trying to cross the road at the pedestrian crossings can be “un parcours du combattant”.

You can only rely on responsible drivers who will stop their vehicles and allow you to cross the road safely…

Hundreds of children use those 3 pedestrian crossings daily, and still, NO POLICE OFFICER or ANY TRAFFIC LIGHTS to coordinate the flow of vehicles… A vehicle might have stopped to allow you cross the road, but at anytime, you can see another one coming from the opposite direction!!!

Its a real shame for the authorities if they haven’t done anything yet to care for the safety of the pedestrians.

Just take a look at those pics below, some of them are self explanatory.

On the 2nd picture:

The ‘tractor’ is in the middle of the intersection, the white van is turning to its left, the 4×4 is turning to its right, where is the sense of PRIORITY???

Some irresponsible drivers…

What would it cost for the authorities (Police and Municipality) to put a police officer on that intersection during peak times where the small children go to school, and leave for their house???

What about installing traffic lights??? It is that costly for this strategic point???
I am sure that thousands of vehicles must be passing this point everyday.

Lets hope that the above authorities will not simply place some speed breakers (humps)  just like in various places where someone gets killed on a particular spot…

Any comments on your behalf???

Our PM dancing a sega at Le Morne

Articles, Blogging, Fun, General, Leisure, News, Television August 10th, 2008

Note : This post is not meant to be funny, but just to show that, our Prime Minister, Navin Ramgoolam, is a mauritian just like any of us, and he did not hesitate to dance a sega live, at Le Morne during a cultural show following the inclusion of Le Morne in the UNESCO World Heritage List..

Read the official communique from the Govt Online Portal on the incusion of Le Morne…
This is the 2nd site of Mauritius in this list, the first being the Aappravasi Ghat, Port Louis…

To celebrate this ‘victory’ of Mauritius, a show was organised today (10th August 2008), which started by an official ceremony, followed by the show, hosted by Linzy Bacbotte.

At one instance, the prime minister was getting ready to leave Le Morne, and Linzy Bacbotte said:

“Hey monsieur premier ministre, kotte ou p aller?”

lol, she got down from the stage, ran towards the prime minister with her mike!

She kindy asked the prime minister to dance a sega, after which the Prime Minister, the Minister of Arts and Culture Mahen Gowreesoo, the Chairperson of the “Le Morne Trust Fund” and herself went back to the stage where all of them danced on a sega, sang live by Serge Lebrasse…

I dont think that you will be able to view this part of the event on the national television MBC, so, just in case, here is it, recorded with my mobile…(and with comments from mum, sister who didnt know that i was shooting that video)

Any ridiculous comments will be deleted… Thanks…
