The life of a blogger…

About Me, Articles, Blogging, Fun, General, Leisure, News, Programming, Technology, Web, Work-Boulot February 19th, 2008

Normally, it starts at $TimeWakeUp, depending on the $Mood and $Health of the blogger, for me being at about 6am if my mood and health is ok.

04-19.jpg

Like everybody else, bloggers do have their lunch, but, before starting to do anything, the first thing is to actually switch on their computer to check if there are any new comment notifications on his blog or read the latest posts in his feeds reader.

reader.jpg

and guess wat???
A new user in his blog!!!

new-user.jpg
Thats a gr8 thing, enough to start a nice day!

And now, a look at the stats of the previous day:

stats1.jpg

stats2.jpg

160 Unique Visitors for yesterday!
that makes the 2nd good news!!! but when this num increases to 200, that is something to celebrate, usually, after that the blogger posts interesting things like the post about Meteo Morice, Ki serti!

Next, get ready for work, university or college, or another boring day at home… without forgetting to sms some sweet words to someone or apologize for falling asleep without being able to reply to the last txt :P

mobile1.jpg

Once set for work, practically everything that comes in his mind, is a good topic for blogging.

For instance, the students standing by the bus stop, may be an interesting topic,

Special thanks to Nitin for this picture (visit his blog here)

Or on the way to his work, just before the entry to Champs De Mars, another original post could be “The famous & Dangerous 4 pedestrian crossings“, being one of the most dangerous junctions in Port Louis.

pedestrian_crossing.jpg

Truly, that critical point in Port Louis can prove to be location of a disastrous accident someday, especially with hundreds of ppl moving around, to and from the pre-primary, the primary school, Champ De Mars entry and DCDM Building ;)

Once in work, as soon as the email inbox is loaded, wow, another new email !

A comment that has been just added!

Thks fadil!

A hard day now begins, with lots of work, sometimes with small breaks in between completed tasks, a small cup of coffee, some mins talking with colleagues, helping others to solve problems related to HTML and CSS mainly.

me-work2.jpg

At the end of the day, a tiring day, the blogger leaves the office usually by bus if he finishes work early (5pm-6:30pm) or by a taxi/company car if he finishes late (at about 7pm-4am the next day lol)

house.jpg

Back home, the sister of the blogger moves away from the laptop for a few moments, so that the blogger can sign in again using his msn messenger and chk any mail that has been received from the moment he switched off his pc in office.

blog.jpg

And just right now, the blogger is writing this post and once, he publishes this page, he will add a link to his msn messenger, so that his fellow mates can check out his blog and add comments…

msn.jpg

And finally, he goes to bed, hoping that tomorrow he will get loads of comments and hits!

So,
now you know how to make him happy,
when he will be checking his mail!!!

Note : this is a true story, adapted from one of the days of the owner of this blog….

Programming in French(WebDev) & Work Work!!!

About Me, Articles, Blogging, Fun, General, Programming, Technology, Web December 13th, 2007

Amateur and Professional in programming, this might interest you.

i wanted to post this since a few days back, but i am so overloaded with work i dont get time even to check my facebook at work!

ya, these days, i am following a training for “WebDev”.

Its a software package for building web sites or web applications, a 5th generation language, with instructions written in French!!!

book.jpg

For those who didnt heard of it before(just like me), it is a product from People Soft, allowing rapid development of web sites since everything is graphical. Anyone can create complicated web sites in hours(depends)

Lets talk about the interesting things:

  • LANGUAGE INSTUCTIONS IN FRENCH (see previews below!)variable.jpg

for example to declare a variable string;

Mon_Nom est une chaine = “Yashvin”

for loops(if then else)

SI X=10 ALORS
info(”x est 10″)
SINON
info(”x n’est pas 10″)
FIN

haha funny na???

  • ULTRA SECURITY!
In order to use the software package, you must have its USB Key, without which, the software will simply not run!!!
and something very funny with this key is that, warning.jpg

if u try to tamper with it, it will automatically launch an auto destruct!!!
ya lol !!!! see the warning above!!!

    usb.jpg

The training will go on till next wednesday, even this saturday, i have a whole day training!

Well, that was the fun part of this post but thesedays am really really tired and overloaded with work!

Today i left office at 10hrs, hungry hungry hungry, since I had simply no food for dinner and all of us(4) in office were too busy to think to go and buy or order some food!
P gagne sommeil comme tout koz its (only) the 3rd day, i am working after office hours to complete a project.

Yesterday(wednesday) left office at21rs and on tuesday, at 2030hrs…
Life starts here lol….
yashvin.jpg

lol, Ashvin took a picture of me,
and told me to blog that picture lol,
so here it is, taken at about 2145 tonight!

bernard.jpg

Followed by a picture of bernard
(supposingly absorbed by his work on webdev)
and ho wanted to see him in my blog….

Thats all, i really wanted to blog today, its 2330, and time to go to bed!

In addition to these, i heard something that made me laught today.
Certain people are jealous about me and trying to find any stupid excuse to make me feel bad, sometimes they find that i have too many friends on facebook, sometimes they find that i chat too much(lol, letemps pena, apres zotte koze kk) while they also find it hard that i blog my life and everything related to me.

WHATS THE FUCK?
its my blog and my life, if u r jealous, just keep away from my life…
Those people will auto-recognize themselves and news travel very rapidly these days lol, koz they keep peeping at me, my life, what i am doing and then start gossips here and there….

hard days coming, staying after working hrs tomorrow too and training on saturday.

my first java app

About Me, General, Programming November 3rd, 2006

lol, no its not my first one but rather my first after several months!

java

in 2 weeks time, i have got to submit an assignment in Distributed Systems Module ( to be written in java.)

so, i have got to remember all the things in java and the syntax etc that i learnt in the 2nd yr…

well, thats my first java app for this 3rd yr…
( lol, i know its a shame for me, but i have to remember back everything and quickly so as to be able to complete the assignment on my own!)

lol, thanks to vicky for his precious help!

my final year project

About Me, Academics, General, News, Programming October 24th, 2006

As for any other student in uni, u got to present something at the end of the final year…
For this final year, i will work together with Sandra and as project supervisor mr Pavaday.
Project title : Implementing fingerprint based secure systems
Description : I will have to develop applications which make use of biometrics (fingerprints) for implementing security.
In brief, our main aim is to develop at least 3 complete applications;

  • Attendance
    This program is nearly completed…
It is a software that the lecturer runs when he enters a class.
He activates it and all students entering the lecture just have to press their finger on the reader and their entry time is recorded.
At the end of the class, the lecturer mark the lecture as ended in the software and he can then generate reports of who was in the class and their time on arrival. All information are stored for later access and the software does not makes use of any password.
Students and Lecturers are enrolled through their fingerprints in an initial process and then identified whenever needed.
  • Lab Access Control
This software is a client-server application in which a reader is attached to the server and all other computers (clients) in the lab are locked by the server (main computer).
When a student enters the lab, he has to authenticate himself/herself by pressing his/her fingerprint onto the reader.
Then the Server Process will automatically identify the user and hence allocate a free pc to him/her, together with an access code.
The server will then contact the free pc (client) and transfer the access code and user details to it.
In order to be able to use the allocated pc, the user has to enter the access code.
Before leaving the lab, the user has to log out of his pc and then, use the reader to log out of the lab.
All details, entry time, exit time + pc used are recorded onto the system and can be accessed by authorized persons…
  • Computer Security
This part of the project consists of developing an application that will control access to different functions in a computer.
For instance, only authorized persons may be able to access the internet, print or enter control panel, etc…
A fingerprint reader will again be used to authenticate users…
Equipment fingerprint readerfingerprint 1
Programming Platforms VB 6 and VB.net
The project itself is very very interesting since we know exactly what is expected from us and what we have to do to reach that expectation.
Programming and working with the reader is not that difficult once you know how to use it.
meanwhile, i dont have to use any passwords in my laptop anymore since i use the fingerprint reader to

  • Log into my mailbox
  • Use MSN
  • Log in & Out of my pc… lol

Its great for us to be given this opportunity to work on this project, with this equipement and with mr pavaday.
Just lets hope that we score good marks at the end of the year…
Aller Sandra, nu pu ressi faire li !!!

Definitions derived from Real Life

Academics, Articles, Programming October 11th, 2006

These following examples of definitions can be found in a book ( Advanced Java Networking ), sent by Vickss to the class mailing list…

The only interesting paragraphs i found up to now….
i looked for others, but could fine more :S

Each instance of the object maintains a similar-looking but entirely different set of variables. Changing the values in one instance does not result in a change in the values of the variables of the other instances. Remember, an instance of a class is like your BMW 328i convertible. It looks as cool as every other BMW 328i, but just because you modify yours to remove the annoying electronic inhibition of speed, that doesn’t mean every other BMW also will be changed!

Maybe you’re tired of driving your minivan because your husband (or wife) makes you! What you really want is a BMW Z3 roadster. So, you drive your Toyota van down to the nearest BMW dealer and trade it in for the Z3. Now, because you have a different car, does that mean you have to learn how to drive all over again?
This is obviously not the case (unless you just traded in a Volvo, in which case you have to learn to drive to begin with). That’s because the world, yes the same world that brought you Elvis and Hillary Clinton, is inherently object-oriented.

Code Reuse
Let’s say that you are putting together your son’s bicycle on Christmas morning. The instructions call for you to use a Phillips-head screwdriver. You take the screwdriver out of the toolbox, use it, and put it back. A few minutes later, you need the screwdriver again. Surely you would use the same screwdriver, not go to the hardware store and buy a new one!

Imagine your grandfather fishing in a stream. He knows that as long as he stays there, he’s going to get a bite. Somewhere, somehow, sometime a fish is going to come down that stream, and your grandfather is going to get it.
Just as your grandfather is the consumer of fish, your applications are either
consumers or providers of data. In Java, all input and output routines are handled through streams.

Let’s say you’re sitting in your living room watching another Washington Redskins victory. You get bored watching the massacre of the Dallas Cowboys, and you decide that you would like to see the 49ers game in progress. In the good old days, you would have to actually switch channels and choose between one or the other. But, these days, televisions have Picture-in-Picture (PIP) capability. By pressing the PIP button on your trusty remote control, you can watch the Redskins demolish the Cowboys on a little box in the corner of the TV while watching the 49ers on the rest
of the screen. This is a prime example of multithreaded programming. The little screen and the big screen share resources (in this case, the area of the full television screen), but they are
not able to affect one another.
