Meeting wiz Nomad Executive Director

Another positive post about nomad :-)

As some of you already know, the Executive Director of Nomad, Mr Shankar Peerthy wanted to meet me to discuss certain things about nomad.
So today, i went to meet him at 0930 in the Cyber Tower, Ebene.

We talked for about lol, one and a half hr in the coffee shop, discussing a lot of things, mainly about the company profile, the achievements, milestones, future projects, the barriers and problems faced by the company.

Am usually null in describing people but Mr Shankar Peerthym is someone young, dynamic with a clear vision and high potential.
He is also very friendly n thnks for the coffee :P

Together with his partner, he had set up Network Plus some years ago and after the completion of the Cyber Tower, they moved in here, offering more services and employing more persons (to handle my problems, hihi!)

 

To my surprise, he has gone through my blog months ago but its now that
he decided to meet me. He is willing to bring nomad on the social
ground by offering various free services… He assured me that i have
the right to write wat i think in my blog, nothing can prevent me from
expressing my views but through this meeting, he wanted to present
those factors and problems that caused enormous frustrations on the
behalf of nomad users, mostly in the north.

One thing to be noted from this meeting, the problems faced previously by nomad users(me!) are not due to their system but rather by the transmission of data which was handed by MCML.

Since about more than one month, nomad itself is handling all their transmissions with their own equipment and thats why, there are less problems and am happy :D
A lot, dont know if i can say the amount here, but a lot of transmitters will soon be placed, mostly in the north to ensure 100% coverage, with no black spots.

Most of the problems faced by nomad was due to unfair competition from the main ISP and the authorities, failing to play the role of the Watch Dog.
I think i must send Pif to “prendre la releve!”

The future Of Nomad?

He talked a lot about the future plans of nomad but i cant reveal it here for some reasons but nomad is thinking very huge..

Also, according to him, i may be lucky to participate in some projects.
One of which, may concern the participation of the Mauritian Bloggers or even University students…

But i think that the mauritian bloggers can get the support of nomad to enlarge our community in the near future.

well, lets see wat comes next, but as i repeated a lot of times today,
“mo pas la pu coule nomad”
and since i have been among the first customers of nomad, i have seen how much effort the team is investing to grow bigger and to be able to compete with Mauritius Telecom.
Please note that MT has about 12000 customers and nomad 8000…
thats gr8 for a ’small’ company…

perhaps for the time being, i will focus on the national tv

Today, my views about nomad have changed a bit when i learnt the rude practices and problems faced due to unfair competition and some illegal practices, ya they exist and nomad has already won some cases in court and more to come in the following month…

Nomad Technician Behavior

Small Recap;

  • This Nomad Technician was sent to my house after making request some 2 weeks before
  • Since i changed my modem one week before, i stopped having problems
  • The technician found there was no problems n seemed angry since he had to come to my place uselessly.
  • He told me this in a rude way “B pena probleme dan connection”
  • I replied to him that it was not my fault since i complained 2 weeks before and its now that his company sent him.
  • When i told him earlier that a technician A…(a friend of mine) came and solved some of my problems before, he called him as “La monnaie Zetter sa”
  • and before going away, he told me sarcastically : “faire compliments to camarade”
  • I reported him to my friend who further reported him to the ones above him

Now this technician is creating a issue out of my blog because i cited his behavior

I have no right? WTF???
its my blog and i have the right to write what i think, especially when it concerns me!

Btw, since i guess lot of nomad staff would be reading this,

Nomad Owes me Rs1264 since December 2006 due to a billing error, am
still waiting for the cheque and my file is still in billing depart
since February…please, do the necessary.
a big hi to all those who know me and u would be happy to know that i dont have much problems anymore since some time :D
I really admire their work sometimes

i dont like it when other people seeking personal revenge include me in their drama, just because i wrote the truth about them.

nomadlife Newsletter, my edition….

lol, i think that i will also make my own newsletter :D
i cant live without nomad…am sure a lot of you have understood this…

so, nomadlife newsletter is at its 2nd issue and its second logo..
i think they are planning to change their logo monthly

according to the interview of the CEO of Navini Networks,
WiMax (the technology which nomad uses) is THE technology [...]

Sure, i dont deny this bcoz it works (perfectly well, i suppose) in over 50 commercial networks in the 6 continents.
BUT i dont think that the strategy nomad is using here is working to the expectation of their customers (unsatisfied?) and bounded to 1 yr contract.

Another truc which attacted my attraction, lol,
was on the nomad portal…

Their servers are fast, no doubt
bcoz they work even when u got no connection to any other sites
since they are local & directly on same network as nomad users

ya, for those who dont want to spend their money paying Mauritius Telecom for the endless minutes, waiting for the customer care ( i do salute some of their staff), try to use Nomad Assistant.
“Seems” it solves some of your problems

Some days back, i finally got a visit from a nomad technician(D…..), who was supposed to come about 2 weeks before!

  • He came at home
  • Found no problems (since i changed my modem)
  • Told me that i should have reported that i got no more problems
  • mone rince li akoz li siposer come 2 weeks before!
  • in addition to that, he dared to treat another nomad techician (A…,a friend of mine) as “la monnaie zetter”.
    I immediately reported him!
    affaire a suivre
  • he went away nearly in anger, n
  • told me “politely” to “faire compliments to camarade”

another step which nomad made forward(?) is the upgrade of their forum, some days back it seems and ‘par hasard’, i was passing by…

the admins there didnt find it useful to link the old topics to the new forum,
perhaps because they were all saturated with problems faced by nomad?
lets hope our posts do not dissapear after moderation, at least they cant moderate my post here :D

Nomad, a perfect gift?

Nomad was mad again for 2 whole days & the technicians themselves took a long time to locate the source of the problem.

But i wish to thank some of the customer care agents who have become very friendly wiz me, something normal since i call them at least 5 times daily!
i have become the “zenfant lakaaz” of nomad!

Impossible to connect to the internet on 11 & 12 Jan for the whole day & night.
On 7 & 8, frequent disconnections !
On 10, no connection for 1/2 day, then at 23hrs n then at 0100hrs
On 11, one of their antennas(BTS) was down for half day!

When i call the customer care, am no more a burden for them since i already inform them that none of their solutions wont work and its of no use to ask me to do them again.
i just tell them : “kouma dir ena problem r zotte nomad”
answer : “wi effectivement, ena ene probleme, essaye connecter pli tard”

or even, many times i had to call to inform them that their antenna in triolet has stopped working and some of them are “latete piker” & dont accept…
its only after some mins, they call me back:
“mr awootar, effectivement, ou ena raison, sa antenne (BTS) triolet la li en panne, nu bane technicians p essaye repare li”

Here is a screen shot of the speed test i fortunately succeeded to carry out on the 11…
a surprisingly extraordinary result of 1KB/s when am supposed to get 13-15KB/s

hmm, i think that i am a bit late to post about the following things :

  • A perfect gift??? rather a headache?

  • The wireless free mouse given to the first 500 customers.

    lol, nomad does not consider itself unfortunate enough to be overloaded with so many problems regarding their wireless modems and now they want to add another problem source with their wireless mouse!

hmm, i really think that nomad should change their moto from

“high speed reliable internet access”to

“unreliable internet access with low speed & high probability problems”
